Sometimes, Alex pays the nanny to stay at either Black Elm or the apartment in town with Edie so that she can get stoned. She gets stoned because it takes the edge off, and it stops her being tempted by other, worse things. Tonight, she's at Black Elm, stretched out on the sofa in the sunroom with the french windows open to the night, her weed pen between her fingers. Her phone buzzes between her tits. It's a text from Lee, asking if she's busy.

sure. You want to get stoned and make out? I'll show you my ballroom.

She sends him a pin for Black Elm's location and a selfie.

“No, it’s fine,” Lee assures her with a chuckle, winking teasingly. “You must be very tired.”

He nods and then looks over his shoulder, then back at her again. “Where are the sheets? I’ll change them before I leave.”

"No, you won't," she says, leaning into the bathroom to grab a battered silk robe from the back of the door and slipping it on, wrapping herself loosely. "But I kind of love that you offered." She turns to go. "I'll text you next time I need to get railed."

She'll text him before that. They both know it.

Lee huffs a laugh but doesn’t argue, leaning against the doorframe as he watches her leave.

“I’ll clear my schedule,” Lee assures her solemnly, tilting his head a little to watch her go, shaking his head with find amusement as he turns to head into the bathroom.
