"Okay," he says, doing as she directs, until suddenly there's a baby in his arms. She wakes a little during the transfer, but doesn't fuss. Just looks up at him with those bleary baby eyes before settling back into her doze.
"Oh, wow," he whispers. He looks up at Alex with naked amazement on his face before staring down at Edie.
