As another contraction starts, Alex leans her weight against him and is
just relieved that he doesn't suggest going to the hospital. They'd
originally decided on a home birth because Alex had been adamant that her
baby was going to be born behind wards that she can trust. Just in case.
"Oh, fuck," she says, her hand tightening on his arm. "Jesus."
